One thing is for sure. Boulder is a great place to EAT. Sure it offers a lot of other stuff like hiking and shopping but as a foodie, I was elated by the options for eating, and everywhere is so good! We only stayed two days so this is list is far from exhaustive but whenever we head back these will be on the list to revisit for sure! Without further ado. here is our list of the best restaurants in Boulder, Colorado.

Spruce Fish and Farm

We got a chance to enjoy a meal at Spruce Fish Farm and Grill, we were very impressed. The restaurant is part of the Hotel Boulderado. It has a variety of dishes and appetizers to choose from. We started off with the calamari and a couple of oysters, by we I mean David. Neither is my cup of tea. To drink we tried a couple of their specialty drinks, the Mule and Boulderado barrel-aged Manhattan. Both were tasty if those are your kind of thing. The main dishes were definitely the most to note.

The fresh Colorado trout was delicious, Bean gobbled it right up. Like most restaurants the kid’s menu isn’t really conducive to kids who actually eat a variety of foods so she shared with David, so was surprised how little of the meal was left after she had gotten to it. I had the Scallops with the corn nage. I had never heard a nage before this but it was fantastic. The flavors were a perfect mix, the squash and corn were a perfect pairing. I would gladly order this again. So good. For dessert, we had cheesecake. It was very creamy and tasty. Overall our experience was great and I would definitely recommend dinner at Spruce if you are visiting Boulder.

A quick note, We would like to Thank Spruce Farn and FIsh for our meal it was provided by Spruce in exchange for our honest review. As always the opinions shared here are completely our own.

Foolish Craigs

We had to give Foolish Craigs a try since I discovered it was on Diners Drive-ins and Dive. It has become an unofficial challenge for me to eat as many of the restaurants featured on that show so it was a must-eat. This is a very cute little local-style eatery. We of course ordered what Guy had ordered. We feared the butter rum caramel cream crepe was going to be really sweet but were pleasantly surprised to find it was not. It was really good and had a great balance of flavors. The Chorizo benedict was the other dish we tried, also featured on DD&D. It was very good, with lots of flavor. I especially loved the potatoes! Definitely worth a visit when in Boulder!

Ruthie’s Boardwalk Social

Ruthies is exactly what its name describes. It is a little stand on Pearl street that has grilled cheese sandwiches and other quick food. We actually ate here twice. We shared a green chili mac and cheese grilled cheese for a snack on the first day and on our last day we went for the breakfast grill cheese with an egg for a quick breakfast before hitting up Boulder Falls.

The green chili one is exactly what it sounds like, green chili mac on bread. It was good but not one I would return for. I did really enough the breakfast sandwich, however. It was simple but the mix of cheese was good and it was perfect for getting our day started. They offer a wide variety of grilled cheese options some more traditional and some a little unconventional. The lemonade is also very good, tart and fresh. Worth a stop for a quick meal if you like a solid grilled cheese sandwich.

The Post

It is hard to choose a favorite meal from our stay in Boulder, but this might be in if push came to shove. We had originally planned to eat next door at Bohemian Biergarten but it was closed that even (check the hours when you are planning yall). This turned out to be a blessing in disguise (the Biergarten is on the list for next time for sure though). Our meal at Post was so good! The deviled eggs are a must. They have tons of flavor and are topped with crispy chicken skin. The fried chicken was some of the best I have ever had. I even ate the skin which let me tell you I NEVER do. The atmosphere is casual and fun. The overall experience was great. We highly recommend this place to anyone going to Boulder, especially if you like fried chicken. A list of the best restaurants in Boulder, Colorado just wouldn’t be complete without The Post.

Snooze AM Eatery

Ok, full disclosure. We didn’t actually eat at THIS snooze but we felt it deserved mention on the list of best restaurants in Boulder, Colorado. We frequent the one by our home in California and we have been to one in Arizona and we went to one in Denver a few days before we got to Boulder, we really like Snooze. I love the ambiance, it has this like 70s meets the Jetsons vibe with tons of bright colors and geometric shapes. My favorite dish is the Pork Verde Benedict. Ugh. So so good. I recommend and pancake flight as well since they have amazing pancakes and it’s hard to choose just one. While it is technically a chain, It was started in Denver is only located in the southwest at this point so it’s worth a visit if you have not been to one, you won’t be disappointed.

Savannah Bee Company

OK, so technically this isn’t actually a restaurant but it deserved a mention. If you like fresh yummy honey then the Savannah Be Company is worth or visit (or three if you are us). Get some fresh honey, they have many types and you can sample them all. They also have other products that are made from honey you can buy. They also have a cafe for coffee and a mead bar. We has a cup of coffee sweated with some of the delicious honey and we got a flight of the tasty meads. They have a great selection of meads available for all tastes. I definitely recommend it!

Lots of choices! I have to ask. Does Boulder have any vegan restaurants? Or vegan choices in traditional restaurants?

    • TNT

We didn’t look specifically but my friend vegan so I usually glance. Most places at least had a few things from what I recall, I think there was a couple places that were more geared that way too

It is a great name! It’s apparently one of the owners names and the other owner was known as a “fool” so they put it together 😂

  7. I would live to go to Boulder one of these years! The restaurants you feasted look so cute and and appear to have a good vibe. I am intrigued about the chorizo meal!
